'Bonnie and Clyde' on a Motorcycle Apprehended Near Eden

EDEN, TX — A couple was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Center from Concho County after being pursued for approximately 24 hours by law enforcement following their evasion of a traffic stop for speeding.

The day-long chase commenced around 11 p.m. Sunday night when a Concho County Sheriff's Deputy observed the couple traveling on US 87 just west of Eden at speeds exceeding 90 mph. Upon pulling over, the driver of the truck accelerated away as the deputy approached on foot.

What followed was a dramatic pursuit through Concho County ranches. Initially fleeing in a pickup truck, the couple eventually crashed the vehicle, which was found to have an off-road capable motorcycle in its bed. Undeterred, the duo continued their escape on the motorcycle.

The couple's flight stemmed from the fact that both the pickup truck and the motorcycle were reported stolen. Jail records identify the woman as Brandi Bower, 30, from West Monroe, Louisiana, and presumably her boyfriend, Dustin Rose, 32, whose residence was not listed in the records. It was reported that they were heading home to the north-central part of Louisiana.

Sheriff Chad Miller revealed that the motorcycle had been stolen in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Near Anson, a passer-by offered the stranded couple a ride to the nearest gas station, loading the motorcycle into his pickup truck. However, Rose and Bower allegedly stole the pickup truck from the Good Samaritan and continued their journey, eventually being caught speeding just outside Eden.

The route from Eden to West Monroe remains unclear. However, authorities found a meth pipe inside the abandoned pickup truck, which may have influenced the couple's erratic behavior and determination to evade capture. There was a .40 cal handgun reported to have been inside the Good Samaritan's pickup, heightening concerns for public safety.

Ranchers told us the couple would cut through a fence to head southbound through a pasture, then make a wide U-Turn to head north back to the same fenceline and cut a second passage only 150 yards from the previous cut.

During the chase, Menard County Constable Lee Callan utilized his ranch helicopter to track the fleeing couple. Eventually, the pickup truck became disabled, either due to running out of gas or sustaining damage from off-road driving. The couple then switched to the motorcycle to continue their escape.

By 4 p.m. Monday, the motorcycle had also run out of gas, leading deputies to recover it. With their means of transportation exhausted, the fugitives were forced to continue on foot. Sheriff Miller mobilized a K9 team and his entire department, alongside assistance from the Menard County constable, to search the Live Oak Subdivision south of Eden towards the Concho-Menard County line. Residents were cautioned against approaching the suspects and urged to contact 9-1-1 with any sightings.

The couple was finally apprehended just after nightfall on Monday.

Suspects Dustin Rose and Brandi Bower face charges including Burglary of a Habitation, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Criminal Mischief, and Evading Arrest/Detention. Bond for each was set at $300,000, and they remain in custody at the Tom Green County Detention Center.
