Illegal Arrested for Killing Child in Hit-And-Run

 

MIDLAND, Texas — In a devastating incident, a Midland Independent School District (MISD) student, struck by an illegal alien driving a truck in a hit-and-run on Thursday, has succumbed to injuries, according to the City of Midland.

The collision occurred at 4:35 p.m. in the 1900 block of South Lamesa Rd. as the student, from IDEA Travis, attempted to cross the road after school. The black truck involved fled the scene, prompting the Midland Police Department's response.

Rogelio Ortiz, the suspected driver, was later located and detained. As of Friday, he faces charges of collision involving serious bodily injury. The victim, an IDEA Travis student, was airlifted to Lubbock but tragically passed away.

Both IDEA Travis and MISD released statements expressing condolences and emphasizing the need for caution around pedestrians. Mental health support is being provided to students and staff affected by the tragedy.

IDEA Travis and Midland ISD Issued the following joint statement:

IDEA and Midland Independent School District are mourning the loss of one of our IDEA Travis students after a tragic incident near our school yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with the student’s family and loved ones. Counselors will be providing mental health support for students and staff on campus. As the safety of our students continues to be our number one priority, we are urging drivers to exercise caution when pedestrians are present to prevent tragedies.”

As the investigation continues, the City of Midland and the educational institutions involved are left grappling with the loss of a young life, urging the community to prioritize safety around school zones to prevent such tragedies.

Hit a child then leave the scene, what a lowlife. It's sad that that type of behavior is becoming commonplace.
