MIDLAND, TX — In the early hours of Saturday morning, tragedy struck in Midland as a 37-year-old man, identified as George Samuel Butler, died after allegedly breaking into a residence. The incident, classified by Midland Police as a case of self-defense, unfolded on the 1400 block of Daventry.

According to authorities, the event occurred around 4 a.m. when Butler forcefully entered a home armed with a rifle. The residents were forced to confront this intrusion, leading to a life-and-death struggle inside their residence.

The homeowner, in an instinctive response to the threat posed by Butler, managed to put him in a chokehold. By the time law enforcement arrived at the scene, Butler had succumbed to the consequences of the struggle and was dead when police arrived.

Midland Police are investigating and piecing together the events that transpired during the attempted break-in. Preliminary findings, however, categorize the homeowner's actions as self-defense, emphasizing the immediate danger posed by the armed intruder.

The identity of the homeowner remains undisclosed, and it is not clear whether there was any prior connection between Butler and the residents of the home he targeted.

The Midland Police Department encourages anyone with additional information related to the case to come forward.

Nothing tragic about it. Guy breaks into a house in Texas, armed with a gun and the homeowner kills him without any weapon. IMO, the thieving bastard got exactly what he deserved. Good job homeowner!

Think of the lost probation money. Now who will pay for the probation facilities? Whoo? Boo-whooo?
