DETROIT, MN — Harold Phillips, a 35-year-old Detroit resident, died following a dog mauling incident. The attack occurred as he walked home from a bus stop. Married for 11 years, Harold leaves behind his wife, Shauntaye Phillips, and six children, five under 18.
The three dogs involved in the attack were euthanized, and their owner, Roy Goodman, received a $5,000 fine from city officials for failure to secure the dogs, as reported by WWJ-TV.
Harold Phillips had his right arm amputated due to injuries sustained in the attack, according to information on the family's GoFundMe page. Goodman acknowledged the dogs' involvement in three previous bite cases, apologizing to the Phillips family.
In response to the tragic incident, the Phillips family has initiated legal action, suing both Roy Goodman and the city of Detroit, as reported by WWJ-TV. The legal proceedings will further investigate the dog attack's circumstances and address accountability in this unfortunate event.
