SAN ANGELO, TX - A 79-year-old San Angelo man has agreed to a plea deal for abusing and sexually assaulting a child under the age of 14 on October 19th, 2020.
Augustin Tapia took the plea agreement which consists of a 5-year Deferred Adjudication sentence, a $1000 fine, and mandated sexual education classes, such as sex offender therapy, and sexual assault school.
According to investigators, Tapia began sexually assaulting a child around June 15, 2020, through July 27th, 2020 when he was 75 years old. Authorities reported that during the 30-40 day time period, Tapia committed two or more acts including sexual abuse of a child younger than 14 years of age and Aggravated Sexual Assault causing penetration. Authorities reported that Tapia committed these heinous acts numerous times regularly.
On October 19th, 2020, an unidentified victim gave authorities a verbal statement along with a written statement to school teachers describing how someone had touched her “butt, breasts, and vagina” underneath her clothing. She said that the first assault occurred in 2017, where the man accused took her into a bedroom and touched her butt, breasts, and vagina over and under her clothes. The victim identified the man as Augustin Dominguez Tapia.
The San Angelo Child Advocacy Center conducted a forensic interview with the victim, on October 29, 2020. During the interview, the victim stated that the attacks occurred at his residence in Grape Creek.

She informed authorities that the first time Tapia touched her inappropriately like this was when she was around seven or eight years old. The victim gave details about the sexual assault reiterating that Tapia touched her breast and according to her “he touched me “down there,” which she later confirmed to mean her vagina. She added that Tapia led her into a bedroom and locked the door.
She stated that the last time Tapia performed these lewd acts on her was during the summer months of 2020. She said Tapia would start dancing with her in the living room and would turn her around so that she wasn’t facing him. Tapia would pull her close to him while dancing and press his “Down there” penis against her butt.
As authorities attempted to extract more information and details about additional assaults, the victim stopped answering questions and refused to speak any further at all. However, she would eventually tell the interviewer “I don’t want to talk about when he (Tapia) would “bite” her vagina. She was asked to clarify her statement and went on to describe the act “it when he (Tapia) puts his mouth on my vagina.”
