EXCLUSIVE CHASE VIDEO: Police Arrest Fugitive Speeding Through Santa Rita

SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo man is back behind bars after taking San Angelo Police on a chase through Santa Rita on Monday night.

Jesse Byers, 31, of San Angelo, took San Angelo Police on a wild ride late Monday and early Tuesday when he allegedly ran from law enforcement though the Santa Rita neighborhood.

According to court documents, on January 16, 2024, Byers evaded capture intentionally from San Angelo Police and drove through the upper class neighborhood.

The San Angelo Police Department Public Information Officer says Byers had one County Warrant for his arrest and when officers attempted to stop him, he evaded the officers in his vehicle and on foot. Byers was later located in the back of a residence on the 100 block of West Avenue B without incident.

Byers was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, Evading Arrest with a Previous Conviction, and Unauthorized Absence from a Community Correction Facility. He was booked into the Tom Green County Jail on January 16, 2024.
