Collaborate in Resolving the Grape Creek Puppy Torture and Murder Case

GRAPE CREEK, TX – In a small community in Grape Creek north of San Angelo, a heinous act has left residents in shock and mourning. Chicharron, a 9-month-old Pitbull puppy, beloved family member of Mari Deleon and her husband, met a tragic and brutal end, stirring a wave of grief and outrage.

On social media, in a unique and heartrending first-person account, Chicharron, the puppy, narrates the final days of his life. "My name is Chicharron, and I was 9 months old when my life was taken from me, purposely and intentionally," he begins.

Chicharron recalls the events leading to his demise. On December 27, 2023, he left his home, lured by a stray dog that had become his friend. This innocent act of seeking play led to a tragic end. Two days later, his lifeless body was discovered, treated with unspeakable cruelty.

Mari Deleon, Chicharron's dog mom, and a first responder, along with her husband, a concrete worker, had moved to Grape Creek seeking a peaceful life on a spacious one-acre spread. They never imagined such brutality could strike so close to home. The discovery of Chicharron's body, hung and drained of blood, left them devastated.

"I was her cuddly buddy and mentally her support buddy," Chicharron reflects on the bond he shared with Mari.

The incident has not only caused personal grief but also raised concerns about safety in the community. "If he harmed me, he would harm again," Chicharron's narrative warns, urging residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office is actively investigating the case, and a $500 reward has been offered for information leading to the perpetrator. Chicharron's story is a grim reminder of the vulnerability of pets and the need for community vigilance.

For Mari, the loss of Chicharron is not just about losing a pet; it's about losing a family member.
