Father & Son Suspects Arrested in San Antonio Slaying of Pregnant Woman & Boyfriend

SAN ANTONIO, Texas — San Antonio police have arrested a father and son in connection with the killings of Matthew Guerra and Savanah Soto, whose bodies were discovered eight days after their disappearance in the Medical Center area.

According to Sgt. Washington Moscoso, Christopher Preciado, 19, faces a capital murder charge, while his father, Ramon Preciado, 53, has been charged with abuse of a corpse.

The authorities allege that Christopher Preciado killed the couple just before midnight on December 21, contacting his father for assistance afterward. Although the killings occurred elsewhere, the pair concealed the victims' vehicle at an apartment complex.

Soto's cell phone, recovered as a crucial piece of evidence, aided detectives in determining the possible location of the suspect's vehicle, initiating an investigation upon the discovery of the bodies.

Law enforcement subsequently released footage of unidentified individuals of interest, including one driving the victims' car, prompting detectives to track down the vehicle's owner. Following surveillance operations, officers located the suspects' residence.

Upon encountering Ramon Preciado at the residence, he was aware of the reason for the police presence. Both father and son were brought in for questioning and provided information that led to the issuance of a warrant signed by a judge on the same night.

Addressing misinformation circulating online, Moscoso clarified that the father and son were the sole suspects pursued in the case, dismissing other rumored names from online speculation.

Arrest affidavits revealed that the shooting appeared to be related to a marijuana transaction. Ramon Preciado's arrest report indicated that he drove to the apartment complex in his vehicle and assisted in concealing the bodies.

The high-profile case emerged after 18-year-old Soto and her 22-year-old boyfriend Guerra were reported missing during the Christmas week. Relatives, unable to reach Soto scheduled for labor induction on December 23, raised concerns.

Upon learning of the arrests, the families of Savanah Soto and Matthew Guerra expressed relief and gratitude. The police stated that additional charges might be brought against the arrested men.
