Arsonist Arrested for Setting Fires New Year's Day

 

ODESSA, Texas — A 59-year-old man, identified as Marlon Stewart by police based on surveillance footage, has been taken into custody by the Odessa Police Department after allegedly setting multiple fires in the city.

The Odessa Police Department, in conjunction with Odessa Fire Rescue, responded to several fires reported around 5:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day in the vicinity of 5th and Sam Houston. Another call reported a fire that had damaged the rear of a building and scorched an AT&T box in the 400 block of N. Lee.

Stewart was apprehended on charges of second degree Felony Arson and was subsequently transported to the Ector County Jail for processing.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries resulting from these incidents. Authorities are anticipating additional charges to be filed against Stewart as the investigation progresses.
