Arrest Made in Connection to 2022 Jewelry Heist

 

ABILENE, TX – Law enforcement authorities have apprehended another individual in relation to a grab-and-go robbery that took place at an Abilene jewelry store in 2022.

Emmanuel Shaft Thompson Jr., also known as “Little E” from Waco, was incarcerated at the Taylor County Jail on Friday, December 29, 2023. He faces charges of Felony Engagement in an Organized Criminal Act in the third degree and Theft of Property in the second degree, stemming from his alleged involvement in the jewelry heist on September 8, 2022.

Thompson is accused of being part of a group that meticulously surveyed at least five local jewelry stores leading up to the actual robbery at Zales in the Mall of Abilene. According to information provided by the Abilene Police Department, approximately $24,000 worth of jewelry was reported stolen from various jewelers in the town. Court documents reveal that Thompson's role in these heists primarily involved the theft of three diamond rings.

On the day of the incident, law enforcement successfully apprehended six members of the group. Authorities suggest that additional arrests may follow as the investigation into the robberies progresses.

Presently, Thompson remains confined in the Taylor County Jail with a set bond amount of $200,000.
