Arrest Made in Connection to Fatal Brownwood Shooting

 

BROWNWOOD, TX — Authorities have arrested a suspect linked to a deadly shooting in Brownwood just after Christmas.

Joseph Dean Williamson, 25, of Early, was apprehended based on warrants for Murder and Evading Arrest in a Vehicle, after the shooting incident that occurred near 5th Street and Avenue E in Brownwood at approximately 3:00 p.m. on December 27.

According to information from the Brownwood Police Department, Williamson is accused of shooting Taylor Hart, 32, from Zephyr.

Upon receiving reports of the shooting, emergency responders discovered Hart with a gunshot wound. He succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Following the shooting, Williamson initially fled the scene in a pickup truck. However, he was subsequently captured during a traffic stop in Early after a brief pursuit.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing, and Williamson is presently detained at the Brown County Jail, with his bonds totaling $225,000.
