ANGLETON, TX — Authorities in Brazoria County have confirmed the recapture of Robert Yancy Jr., 39, who escaped from the Clemens Unit detention facility in Brazoria County, just south of Houston, on Sunday.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice announced the escape of Yancy, convicted of sexually abusing a child, on Sunday afternoon. Yancy's escape prompted immediate efforts by law enforcement to locate and apprehend him.
Reports indicated that Yancy was spotted driving a 2021 Nissan Versa with his mother in the car shortly after his escape. Authorities issued warnings urging citizens to avoid contact with Yancy and advised them to report any sightings to the Texas Department of Corrections.
On the same night as the escape, the Victoria Police Department announced on Facebook that officers had stopped a white Nissan Versa and arrested the female driver on an outstanding felony warrant related to Yancy's escape. The authorities did not confirm her relationship with Yancy.
The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Monday morning that Yancy had been recaptured in Matagorda County, bringing an end to the manhunt.
Online records from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice revealed that Yancy was serving a life sentence without parole for the aggravated sexual assault of a child. As of now, officials have not disclosed any additional charges in connection with Yancy's escape.
The circumstances surrounding Yancy's escape and the assistance provided to him remain under investigation by local authorities.

Whatever county sentenced this pedo scum to life did it right, even though the death penalty would have been more fitting. Tom Green county should take note.
