Prison Sentence for Defendant Who Admitted to Abusing a Child Over & Over

 

SAN ANGELO— An Eastland man has taken a plea deal in Tom Green County for the continuous sexual abuse of a child younger than 14-years-old.

Larry DeLaCruz, 29, has signed a plea deal admitting guilt to charges of Continuous Sex Abuse of a Child Younger than 14-Years-Old that occurred in San Angelo.

According to court documents, on April 10, 2021, accusations of sexual abuse between an adult and a child, who was 12 years old at the time, was made. A police report said the child victim made an outcry to a witness that DeLaCruz had made sexual contact when the child was six or seven years old.

The witness said that the victim told her that DeLaCruz had abused the victim twice at a residence on the 3000 block of Sunset Drive in San Angelo between July 2016 and February 2017.

In a sworn statement, DeLaCruz admitted to having sexual contact with the child victim at the Sunset Drive residence two or three weeks after moving into that residence and about five weeks before moving out.

On December 18, 2023, in exchange for the guilty plea, DeLaCruz was sentenced to five years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
