Convicted Murderer Injured in Shootout with Deputies

MANVEL, TX -The Brazoria County Sheriff's Office was engaged in an officer-involved shooting Sunday, leaving a suspect injured but no deputies harmed. 

The incident occurred at approximately 8:54 p.m. in Manvel, located near Houston, as law enforcement responded to reports of a domestic dispute involving a firearm.

According to information released by the Sheriff’s Office, upon arrival, deputies encountered Elloy Carrillo Jr. brandishing a firearm amidst a disturbance with a woman. 

Efforts were made to diffuse the situation peacefully, with verbal commands urging Carrillo to surrender the weapon. 

However, he defied compliance, leading to the use of a taser by deputies to subdue him.

Regrettably, following the taser deployment, Carrillo managed to reclaim the weapon and initiated gunfire against BCSO deputies. 

In response, the deputies returned fire, resulting in multiple injuries to the suspect. 

The information read that Carrillo was subsequently transported to a Houston-area hospital, where he remains in custody, receiving medical treatment for his injuries. 

His condition is reported as stable but critical.

Carrillo, Jr. was on parole for a 1998 murder conviction in Harris County.

In adherence to established protocols and best practices, the Texas Rangers will spearhead the investigative efforts, while the BCSO will conduct an internal administrative investigation. 

All deputies involved have been placed on administrative leave, a standard procedure pending the conclusion of the investigations.
