DEL RIO, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, announced the reopening of the Amistad Dam International Bridge, situated just 150 miles away from San Angelo, following an extended closure attributed to several factors. These include ongoing remodeling at the Mexico Customs installations near the Amistad Dam and a comprehensive two-week site inspection conducted by the International Boundary and Water Commission.
Commencing on Monday, December 18, 2023, the Amistad Dam International Bridge, positioned on Texas Spur 349 in Del Rio, Texas, will recommence operations, adhering to its regular schedule from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., operational seven days a week.
Notably, the operating hours at the Del Rio Port of Entry and cargo operations remain unaffected by these changes.
CBP emphasizes the significance of travelers obtaining and using equipped radio frequency identification documents, including U.S. passport cards and newer versions of border crossing cards and resident alien cards (i.e., issued since 2011). Utilizing Ready Lanes is encouraged, and travelers are advised to have their entry documents prepared when approaching the booth to streamline their processing.
