PLANO, TX — Keith Haynes, 33, has been sentenced to life imprison without the possibility of parole following the deadly shooting of his pregnant ex-girlfriend.
Haynes was found guilty of shooting 25-year-old Kenishia Walker, his former girlfriend, in the bed of her Arlington residence on April 14, 2017. Tragically, Walker was carrying Haynes' child at the time of the incident. Her lifeless body was discovered by her 8-year-old son.
Subsequently, Haynes was apprehended in Plano a few days after the fatal shooting.
During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence to the jury, including text messages from Walker to a friend. In one of the messages, Walker shared a screenshot of threats received from Haynes and expressed concern for her safety. "If I ever come up dead please show the police this and other screenshots," she wrote to her friend.
Haynes was employed by the Dallas County Sheriff's Department as a courtesy patrol officer, assisting stranded drivers.
The sentencing marks the culmination of a tragic case that shook the community, highlighting the consequences of domestic violence and the irreversible loss caused by such horrific acts.
