Man Indicted for Evading Arrest in a Stolen Vehicle

 

SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo man has been indicted for running from the cops and using a stolen vehicle.

Hector Sanchez, 32, has been indicted for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Evading Arrest or Detention, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

According to court documents, on September 4, 2023, a San Angelo police officer located a stolen vehicle in the 1100 block of Benedict Drive. Sanchez exited the driver’s seat of the vehicle. when he saw the officer traveling toward him, he ran around the building.

A lengthy foot pursuit ensued, and several Officers eventually made contact with Sanchez. As contact was made, he would run from officers. Sanchez was located and taken into custody in the area of the River Pointe Apartment Complex.

Sanchez had previous conviction for evading from May 2022 and he also had an active parole violation warrant at the time of this arrest. When searching the vehicle Sanchez was in, less than a gram of methamphetamine was found along with less than two ounces of marijuana. Police said Sanchez was the only one in control of the vehicle.

Sanchez was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail for Possession of Marijuana, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Evading Arrest or Detention with a Previous Conviction.
