Crazed Woman Indicted for Biting a Police Officer

 

SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo woman has been indicted for kicking and biting a police officer.

Heather Costello, 50, has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for Assault of a Peace Officer. According to court documents, on July 1, 2023, at around 11:30 p.m., San Angelo police officers were dispatched to the 2400 block of West Harris Avenue regarding a disturbance call.

Officers arrived and encountered the defendant, identified as Costello, at the back of the residence. Officers entered into the residence to check on the welfare of any other potential victim due to finding a subject outside the residence who was covered in blood.

Costello would not allow officers into the home and intentionally prevented them from gaining access. Due to her actions, Costello was detained during the investigation. While she was being secured in handcuffs and taken to a police unit for transport. She continuously resisted officers’ efforts to secure her inside the vehicle.

Costello kicked an officer in his knee or shin area and bit his right calf. The officer had visible marks on his arms and legs.

Costello was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Jail on July 2, 2023, and was released on August 12, 2023, on $26,000 bond. She is due in court on December 5, 2023, for a status report hearing.
