Head Case Butts Heads With Police and Gets Indicted

 

SAN ANGELO, TX— A San Angelo man was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for Evading Arrest and Assaulting an officer.

According to the indictment, police dispatch call notes stated an unknown man was prancing around on the roof of a closed business and was screaming and looked as though he was possibly on narcotics according to his odd behavior that was witnessed by the police. San Angelo Police Officer Montana stated that an unstable-looking man came down from the building and immediately ran from the officers on foot police they attempted to detain him for criminal trespass. 

As reported earlier here, James Prater, 44, was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit and arrested for Evading Arrest and Detention. As Prater was being hand-cuffed and placed under arrest he assaulted officer Montana by head-butting him in the face. Prater  was then taken to Shannon hospital for treatment of psychological issues. 

James Prater’s next court date is December 6, 2023 where he will be assigned an attorney.
