Texas Police Officer Killed During Hours Long Chase

 

SAN BENITO, TX – A Texas Police Officer was killed in the line of duty on Wednesday morning.

According to multiple reports, on Oct. 17, 2023, Texas DPS Troopers were assisting the Cameron County Sheriff's Office and the San Benito Police Department in a chase through Cameron County.

The chase, which began on South Padre Island, lasted multiple hours, but two men were eventually taken into custody. Unfortunately, at some point, an officer with the San Benito Police Department was shot and killed by one of the two men.

The Texas Rangers, DPS, and the Cameron County DA are currently working on charges for the two arrested.
