SAN ANGELO, TX – San Angelo Police chased down and arrested a 35-year-old man on Thursday night in North San Angelo.
According to a release from the San Angelo Police Department, on Sep. 6, 2023, officers attempted to pull over an individual for not signaling 100 feet from the intersection of Howard and Junius.
There were two men in the vehicle when the officers made the traffic stop. The passenger complied with officers but the driver decided to make a run for it. A vehicle pursuit lead the police on a chase only a couple blocks before the driver jumped out on the 1900 block of Raney.
The foot chase ended with the Police arresting Kendrick Grey, 35, for outstanding warrants, possession of marijuana, and evading arrest with a previous conviction.
The following following statement is from the SAPD:
An individual was arrested after leading officers on a vehicle pursuit. At the end of the vehicle pursuit, the individual fled on foot. Numerous officers searched the area, and the individual was taken into custody and charged with multiple offenses.
The San Angelo Police Department initiated the traffic stop at the intersection of Howard/Junius for failure to signal 100 feet prior to turning at the intersection. The vehicle was occupied by two male subjects. The driver disregarded the police lights/sirens and proceeded to evade the detention in his vehicle. The driver later exited his vehicle in the 1900 block of Raney and evaded on foot. The passenger of the vehicle complied with the officer’s commands and was detained without incident.
The driver was later taken into custody by responding officers. The driver was found to have multiple warrants and possession of marijuana. This was a group effort with the assistance of Patrol, Anti-Crime Unit, Gang Unit, Lake Division, K-9 Division, and the Drone Team. At the conclusion of the preliminary investigation, the suspect was charged with the mentioned offenses:
Kendrick Gray (35yoa) – Evading arrest or detention with vehicle, evading arrest or detention with previous conviction, criminal mischief, possession of marijuana, traffic offenses, and multiple warrants.
Gray was transported to the Tom Green County Jail.
