San Angelo Woman Arrested for Lighting Boyfriend's Truck on Fire

SAN ANGELO—  Shawna Marie Campbell, 34, has been arrested for Arson after she allegedly lit the inside of her boyfriend’s truck on fire last week.

According to court documents, in the early morning hours of August 4, 2023, San Angelo police responded to the 2500 block of Field Street regarding a vehicle fire. Officers found a white Dodge pickup truck n the street with the door open. A fire had been extinguished by the owner’s father with a fire extinguisher.

The officer noted the inside of the truck had been badly burned to the point where the seats were down to the foam and the headliner was drooping down. The victim had attempted to chase down the female he believed to be responsible.

Another officer had located the female suspect, identified as Campbell, at Legacy Terrace Apartments.

The victim stated that Campbell was his girlfriend, and they spent the night at his brother’s residence. They returned to Field Street and Campbell became upset because she couldn’t find her keys. The victim called out to Campbell several times to see where she had gone to when he and his brother heard a door slam.

The victim’s brother saw Campbell walking away from the victim’s truck. When the victim went to the truck to see if Campbell had taken anything, he observed the fire inside.

Investigators spoke with the Fire Marshall who said the truck appeared to have been intentionally ignited with a flammable liquid in the driver’s seat. Officer then located a blue lighter with a liquid type of wetness on it.

When investigators went to speak with Campbell, she refused to talk to them.

Campbell was arrested on August 4, 2023, and booked into the Tom Green County Jail. She was charged with Arson and currently has a $25,000 bond.
