BROWNSVILLE, TX – The U.S. Border Patrol on Wednesday arrested a wanted woman accused of leaving a dead infant in a Houston Gas Station.
Diana Guadalupe Zavala Lopez, 25, was apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol in Brownsville on a charge of tampering with evidence related to a human corpse, according to a statement released by the Houston Police Department.
The arrest was in connection to a distressing incident involving the death of a baby discovered at a convenience store located at 13114 South Post Oak Road on April 2.
The investigation unveiled that an unidentified Hispanic woman had entered the gas station restroom and departed approximately 15 minutes later. Subsequently, a customer stumbled upon the infant in the restroom and immediately contacted emergency services.
Despite the efforts of paramedics to resuscitate the newborn, it was determined that the baby had tragically passed away several hours prior to being discovered.
Following her arrest, Diana Guadalupe Zavala Lopez is currently in custody and will be extradited to Harris County to face the charges against her. As the case is still ongoing, authorities are actively continuing their investigation into this deeply distressing matter.
