Midland Fugitive Arrested at the Border for Killing a Man with a Backhoe

 

MIDLAND, TX – Manslaughter with a backhoe landed a Midland fugitive behind bars on Tuesday.

According to the Midland County Sheriff's Office, on July 25, 2023, Silvestre Gonzalez, of Midland, was arrested at the Presidio port of entry for a warrant out of Midland for manslaughter.

Gonzalez is accused of killing a man with a backhoe. Court documents allege that Gonzalez did not properly stabilize the backhoe, causing the rear bucket to drop and fatally injure the man.

The warrant was issued for more than 2 weeks. Gonzalez was apprehended while attempting to re-enter the United States from Mexico.
