Violent Drunk Arrested After 3 Hour Brutal Assault of Pregnant Woman

SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo man has been arrested for assaulting a pregnant woman who is over six months pregnant for over three hours Saturday.

Joshua Dunn, 26, has been arrested for Assault of a Pregnant Person and Interfering with an Emergency Request for Assistance.

According to court documents, deputies with the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence on the 11000 block of Spring Creek Lane in Dove Creek just south of San Angelo in reference to an assault. A Game Warden with Texas Parks and Wildlife and the Sheriff’s deputy were unable to locate anyone on the property until it was learned the victim was texting a friend and telling the friend where she was and the situation.

Responding law enforcement knocked very loudly on the front door until Dunn was seen climbing down a ladder from the loft area of the residence. Due to the situation, Dunn was placed in handcuffs and officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol coming from him.

Law enforcement met with the victim and learned that Dunn had allegedly assaulted her by hitting her in the head, legs, and arms several times. The victim believed that she had a concussion due to the assault. The victim had allegedly been assaulted for three hours before law enforcement arrived on scene.

The victim was seen to have redness and swelling around her head, arms, and legs, indicating that she had been assaulted multiple times. The victim stated she is six and a half months pregnant. Dunn confirmed he knew the victim was pregnant at the time of the assault.

The victim attempted to call 911 for assistance prior to texting a friend for help and when Dunn allegedly punched the victim in the face when she called 911 for assistance and she ended the phone call. When reviewing the phone call history, the victim called 911 at 7:56 p.m. and had a missed call from the San Angelo Police Department right after the 911 call.
