San Angelo Man Arrested for Assaulting a Local Boy

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man was arrested Wednesday morning on a warrant for a grand jury indictment for sexually assaulting a local teen.

According to the indictment, on January 24, 2021, Jairo Hernandez, 21, of San Angelo, allegedly grabbed the genitals of a boy under the age of 17. The document states that the motive behind the assault was to seek sexual gratification from the child.

Hernandez was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury in September 2022, following which a warrant was issued for his arrest. Despite evading the authorities for nearly a year, he was finally apprehended on July 12, 2023. Hernandez was taken into custody for his warrants and subsequently booked into the Tom Green County Jail.

Currently, Hernandez remains in jail with a $50,000 bond. If released on bond, he is prohibited from having any contact with the victim.
