Police Shoot & Kill 2 When Texas Traffic Stop Goes Bad

 

AMARILLO, TX – An officer involved shooting in the Texas Panhandle left two dead on Sunday.

According to ABC7 Amarillo, on July 9, 2023 at around 8:20 p.m., Amarillo Police Officers pulled over a Mazda3 at the intersection of 9th Ave. and Grand St. The car was pulled over after plates on the vehicle did not match the car on the vehicles registration.

At the time of being pulled over there were three people in the vehicle. Per APD policy more units were called in to assist.

At some point during the stop police began speaking with the man in the back seat. Things escalated, the man exited the vehicle with a pistol, and pointed it at the officers. Officers drew their pistol and fatally shot the man.

Another bullet struck a female passenger in the front seat. She was rushed to the hospital but later died from her injuries.

Typically officer involved shooting are investigated by the Texas Rangers.
