SAN ANGELO, TX – The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Transportation took part in two separate traffic enforcement operations last month.
During the operation, TGC Sheriff Deputies caught over 100 drivers speeding, a driver with a controlled substance, and a drunk driver who was driving with a passenger under 15 years of age. Additionally, deputies were able to cite nearly 40 truckers for violations.

In the month of May 2023, the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office participated in the Select Traffic Enforcement Comprehensive Program (COMP) and Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) STEP Programs with the Texas Department of Transportation.
During the Select Traffic Enforcement Comprehensive Program, Deputies conducted one-hundred and fifty-two traffic stops. These traffic stops included one hundred and twenty for speeding, one violation for safety belt violations, six intersection violations, and fifty-two enforcement actions for violations not specifically identified.
There was also an arrest for felony Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Under 15 Years of Age, and felony Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1 <1 gram.
During the Commercial Motor Vehicle STEP Program, Deputies conducted thirty-seven traffic stops. These traffic stops included eleven enforcement actions for speeding, thirty-eight CMV violations, and one for other violations not specifically identified.
