Guatemalan National Found Dead in Texas Lake

 

AMARILLO, TX – An 18-year-old Guatemalan man was found dead in a Texas panhandle lake on Friday morning.

An unidentified body was discovered on Wednesday morning at approximately 9 a.m., according to the National Park Service (NPS). The incident took place at the Spring Canyon Recreation Area at Lake Meredith.

The deceased individual, a Guatemalan man living in Cactus, was found submerged in approximately 29 inches of water. The NPS swiftly responded to the scene following the report.

As part of the investigation, the body was transported to Lubbock for an autopsy. However, the initial findings failed to determine the cause of death.

At this time, the NPS has refrained from disclosing the identity of the deceased individual, pending further investigation and notification of the next of kin.

The National Park Service, in collaboration with the Cactus Police Department, is actively investigating the case to shed light on the circumstances leading to the individual's untimely demise. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses
