DPS Trooper Critically Injured in High Speed Crash

ANAHUAC, TX – A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper was hospitalized Tuesday morning following a high-speed crash near Houston.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, on May 30, 2023, troopers attempted to pull over a van suspected of being driven by a drunk driver on I-10. The van tried to evade officers and ended up crashing with a trooper who was outside of his vehicle.

The driver crashed into the back of the trooper's vehicle, pinning him against a concrete barrier.

The driver of the van died in the crash. The trooper, however, was quickly taken to the hospital and is currently being treated for serious injuries.

Reports suggest that the driver couldn't see the troopers due to the rising sun.
