SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo teenager has been indicted for taking a gun into a local bar.
Eduardo Gabriel Lopez, 17, has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for unlawful carrying of a weapon in a prohibited place after taking a gun into El Patron.
According to court documents, on December 19, 2022, San Angelo Police and investigators were dispatched to El Patron Bar, located at 1616 South Chadbourne Street, due to dispatch receiving a call about an unknown male inside the bar with a gun.
An officer located the armed individual, Lopez, inside the bar and asked him to come outside. This officer told the investigator as he and Lopez were walking out of the bar, he saw Lopez grabbing something in his left pocket. When asked if he had a gun, Lopez allegedly replied “yes”.
The officer then conducted a pat-down of Lopez and located a gun in his jacket pocket. Lopez said he brought the gun into the bar with him for protection.
Investigators spoke with the bar’s owner and learned that he was hosting a private party inside the bar and El Patron makes 51% of its income from alcohol.
Lopez was arrested for unlawful carrying a weapon in a prohibited place and was booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility on December 19, 2022, and was released the same day on $10,000 bond.
Lopez is due in court next on June 7, 2023, for post indictment reporting.

Again we see an example of too many guns in a world with too many idiots.
Here we have a teenager packing a firearm into a bar. A teenager's going into a bar is bad enough in itself, but the possession of the firearm jacks the situation up to a whole new level.
I truly hope he does some time behind bars. I have little sympathy with anyone that stupid carrying a firearm. I don't want him around me or mine ever.
I also suggest that local LEOs consider more diligence regarding this particular bar.
