Ballinger ISD on High Alert Following School Shooting Threat

BALLINGER, TX – A threat at Ballinger High School put the school on high alert on Friday morning.

The following is a statement from Ballinger ISD:

Out of an abundance of caution, Ballinger ISD administration wanted our parents and community members to know that BISD officials have received an Anonymous Alert that stated that they overheard a group of students talking about another student saying that they were going to come and shoot the school up today (4/28).

Ballinger ISD administration have contacted the Ballinger Police Department and informed them of this information. A member of the Ballinger Police Department will be contacting the accused student’s parents as soon as possible to inform them of this information. The accused student will not be allowed on campus today and will not be allowed back on campus until the threat is thoroughly investigated.

Ballinger ISD officials believe in being transparent with our parents and our community members when threats such as this are received. Ballinger ISD feels that measures are in place for students to safely attend school today. However, it is understandable if parents feel like that they need to keep their student at home today.

Ballinger ISD administration along with the Ballinger Police Department will continue to monitor the situation and will update parents and community members if there are further developments.
