San Angelo Police Release Information on TLCA School Threat

SAN ANGELO— The San Angelo Police Department has issued a statement regarding a threat made towards San Angelo TLCA on social media.

In information released by the San Angelo Police Department,  a 17-year-old male is in custody after an investigation regarding a social media threat at TLCA High School.

Multiple SAPD Officers responded to the school, and TLCA was placed on lockdown as the investigation took place.

The SAPD was dispatched to 5687 Melrose (TLCA) after the faculty was made aware of the suspect posting a photo of a firearm with the phrase “Come to School” on “Snapchat.” TLCA went into an immediate lockdown as it was learned that the suspect (a TLCA Student) had left the campus for lunch.

Multiple SAPD officers responded to TLCA and were able to obtain information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts. The suspect was then taken into custody off campus by SAPD’s Street Crimes Division.

SAPD’s Criminal Investigations Division investigated the incident, and the suspect was arrested for Terroristic Threat.

There is currently no threat to the TLCA Campus, and the SAPD is working in conjunction with the TLCA staff to ensure the safety of their students.

San Angelo TLCA also made a statement regarding this event earlier today.
