SAN ANGELO — A San Angelo man has been indicted for threatening to publish intimate visual materials and assaulting his girlfriend.
Keno Watkins, 25, was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for threatening an ex-girlfriend with publishing intimate materials and assaulting her.
According to court documents, on December 15, 2022, a report was made regarding an assault at the H-E-B located at 3301 Sherwood Way. The victim said in the report that Watkins approached her while at the location and assaulted her causing her lip to swell.
Also, on December 18, 2022, investigators conducted a follow up interview on the assault and during the investigation, he learned that revealing images were sent of the victim to her friends and her mother.
The investigator met with both the victim and the victim’s mother and received a statement confirming the receipt of the image. The mother also believed Watkins sent the image to her based on the other messages she received from him.
The investigator noted that the message, “I guess u didn’t know she smoked dope” was below the screenshot. The victim provided that she had originally sent the image to Watkins in confidence that only he would see it.
The investigator continued his investigation and noted that this was sent less than three days after Watkins was released from jail after he assaulted the victim at H-E-B. This was all part of a series of offenses where Watkins reportedly harassed the victim and damaging her property since the victim ended her relationship with Watkins.
Statements made by the victim and the victim's mother find sufficient probable cause that Watkins did then and there, and without the effective consent of the victim, intentionally disclose intimate visual materials that also revealed the identity of the victim to the victim's mother. This material was obtained under the reasonable expectation of privacy that they would remain private.
Watkins was arrested for threatening to publish or publishing intimate visual material on January 12, 2023, and is currently in the Tom Green County Detention Facility and is being held on $90,000 bond.
