San Angelo Man Goes to Prison in Plea Deal for Child Abuse

 

SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo man has taken a plea deal after he was charged with indecency with a child.

Deric Lance Leavitt, 41, took a plea deal Wednesday and was sentenced to prison. According to the indictment, on or about January 1, 2013, Leavitt engaged in sexual contact with a child younger that 17 years old.

Leavitt engaged in the sexual contact with the intent to satisfy his sexual gratification. He was indicted on three different charges of indecency with a child for the three different ways he assaulted the child.

Leavitt was arrested on February 13, 2019, and was released on April 17, 2021, on $45,000 bond.

In exchange for the guilty plea offered by the District Attorney's office and signed by the Judge and the defendant, Leavitt was sentenced to three years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Institutiona Division and has been ordered to pay $169.05 in restitution.
