SAN ANGELO— A San Angelo woman has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for running over her boyfriend in a parking lot of a local bar.
Blanca Cajas was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for aggravated assault after running over her boyfriend with her car at Giz and Hums Billards and Brews.
According to court documents, on January 8, 2023, San Angelo Police Officers were dispatched to 1425 West Beauregard Avenue for a major motor vehicle crash. Once on scene, officers learned that it wasn’t a crash between two vehicles, but a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian. Officers also learned that the vehicle that struck the victim fled the scene.
Investigators learned that from officers that multiple car parts and pieces, along with a Lincoln vehicle emblem lying on the ground close to where the victim was located. The vehicle was discovered parked at a residence on the 200 block of East 24th Street and front-end damage was visible.
Then, investigators spoke with a witness who said he observed the defendant, identified as Cajas, and the victim, drinking alcohol together at the bar prior to the assault. Both of them departed the bar at around 11:15 p.m.
Security footage was reviewed and at approximately 11:15 p.m., Cajas exited the bar and entered into the driver seat of a red Lincoln Navigator. The victim got into the front passenger seat moments later. Then, the footage revealed the victim exit the vehicle and walk around the front of the SUV. It was then observed that Cajas backed up the vehicle a few feet, then drove forward, over a curb, striking the victim and a wooden fence. It was after this that the vehicle left the scene.
On January 9, 2023, the victim was interviewed, and it was learned the victim had a dislocated right kneecap and possible internal bleeding and that he would need to be taken to a different hospital for further treatment. The victim said he and Cajas had gotten into an argument while leaving the bar and when he went to exit the vehicle, Cajas intentionally struck him with the vehicle.
Cajas was arrested and booked on January 11, 2023, for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and posted a $75,000 bond the same day.
