2 San Angelo Women Sentenced for Assaulting Public Servants

 

SAN ANGELO — Two San Angelo woman have been sentenced after assaulting public servants.

On Wednesday, February 8, 2023, Elizabeth Shnaine Morgan and Valentina Ramos Duffley have each taken plea deals for assaulting either public servants or police officers.

According to court documents, on May 31, 2022, a San Angelo Police Officer and a San Angelo City Marshal were in the 400 block of West 11th Street where they located Morgan. Both the officer and City Marshal knew Morgan to have outstanding warrants.

According to the City Marshal, Morgan attempted to walk away from him, so they attempted to restrain her. Morgan immediately began pulling away at which point she was taken to the ground and placed in handcuffs.

The City Marshal put Morgan in the back seat of his patrol vehicle, and she began kicking the cage. In an attempt to stop her, the Marshal decided to use a leg restraint and when he tried to restrain her, Morgan kicked him in the face.

In exchange for a guilty plea, Morgan was sentenced to two years in prison with her time served to be credited.

In Duffley’s case, according to court documents, in August 2019, San Angelo police responded to 120 East Harris Avenue, or Shannon Medical Center, for a call for service. Investigators were advised by officers that Duffley pushed a hospital staff member.

An interview was conducted with the victim, who worked in the Shannon Emergency Room. The victim told investigators that Duffley started yelling outside her hospital room. When the victim approached Duffley, she shoved the victim in a quick motion.

A witness, who was working security, was interviewed as well. The witness advised that he heard yelling from down the hallway. When he went to investigate, he witnessed the victim get shoved by Duffley.

During a Mirandized interview, Duffley told the investigator that she intentionally shoved the victim and security camera footage confirmed the incident.

In exchange for a guilty plea, Duffley was given a three years probation.

The judge has signed off on both plea deals.
