Final Suspect in Grape Creek Aggravated Robbery Case Sentenced

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – The final suspect in an aggravated robbery case in Grape Creek was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Friday morning.

As previously reported, on Feb. 2, 2022, deputies with the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office arrested Joe Brandon Ortiz, 17, Tony Enrique Rios, 25,  Benita Blanca Iniguez, 17, and an unnamed male juvenile for aggravated robbery following a string of car burglaries in Grape Creek. The robberies took place on Jan. 28. At one stop at a Grape Creek Trailer Park, the four were caught breaking into a car. While being chased off by a woman, one of the four pulled out a pistol and fired 11 shots at her.

Two of the adults, Rios and Iniguez, were both sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to the charge. See: San Angelo Man Sentenced for Role in Violent Grape Creek Shooting & Robbery

On Dec. 16, 2022 Ortiz also pleaded guilty to the robbery. He was also sentenced to 10 years in prison. 

The status of the unidentified juvenile is unknown.
