San Angelo Man Charged with Assaulting an Under Aged Girl & Threatening a Woman with a Bat Signs Plea Deal

SAN ANGELO- A disturbed San Angelo man has signed a plea deal for several charges including sexual assault of a child, unauthorized use of a vehicle,  and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to court documents, on April 4, 2021, the defendant, identified as Adam Aguero threatened the victim with imminent bodily injury by hitting a fence with a bat and pointing the bat at the victim. Aguero exhibited the bat in a manner that could cause death or serious bodily injury.

Also, in June 2021, a San Angelo police officer was dispatch to the 1800 block of Martin Street for a reported stolen vehicle. The victim in this case told the officer the vehicle, a 2010 GMC Arcadia, was stolen the night before.

The stolen vehicle was located a few minutes after speaking with the victim. The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office found the vehicle traveling in the 9000 block of US Highway 87 North. The driver, Aguero, knowingly took the vehicle from the victim’s residence without consent. Augero was then arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

According to an indictment, Aguero was also charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child in 2013.

In exchange for a guilty plea to the two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, Aguero will be sentenced for 5 years in prison. For the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Aguero was sentenced for 1 year and 5 years respectively. Those sentenced will run concurrent with each other.

The court must still approve the plea bargain before it becomes final.
