San Angelo Man Signs Plea Deal for Taking Lewd Images of a Child

SAN ANGELO – A San Angelo man has signed a plea deal that will place him on deferred adjudication probation for taking nude pictures of a child.

According to court documents, investigators observed a forensic interview with the child victim who was under the age of 14 at the time. The child told investigators that the defendant, identified as Andrew Edwards, photographed her with his cellphone while she was in the bathroom.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Edwards’ cellphone and found an image of the child in the nude. Edwards also admitted to taking photographs of the child on multiple occasions.

Edwards has signed a plea deal and in exchange for a guilty plea, he will be placed on eight years deferred adjudication probation.

The court still has to approve the plea agreement.

Deferred adjudication probation means that if Edwards completes the eight years, the charges can be erased from his record.

Edwards has a second charge of injury to a child that would be dropped in agreement with the plea deal.
