TxDOT Crews Find Human Remains Along I-20 Near Abilene

 

ABILENE – Texas Department of Transportation crews clearing brush in the area of Interstate 20 and mile marker 288 near Abilene discovered human remains underneath a bridge.

According to the Abilene Police Department, on Jul. 27 at around 2:30 p.m., officers with the APD were called out to the location and investigators determined the remains were possibly there for some time due to their condition.

The remains will be taken for an autopsy to help determine the cause of death. There were no apparent signs of trauma to the body, and the gender, age, or race could not be determined at the scene. Judge Mike McAuliffe was called out and officially pronounced the person deceased.

More information will be released when autopsy results are returned. This is currently being worked as a death investigation.
