San Angelo Woman Arrested for Intoxication Assault with a Vehicle and Evading Arrest

SAN ANGELO- A San Angelo woman was arrested last week for intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury among other crimes.

According to the San Angelo Police Department, on July 14, 2022, officers were called to the 2100 block of Sul Ross Street around 11:00 p.m. regarding a major vehicle crash. The defendant’s vehicle, a Chevy Equinox, was located by officers still driving north on A&M Avenue.

The defendant, identified as Amanda Plummer, was fleeing from officers in her vehicle but eventually stopped at the intersection of West Avenue N and Sherwood Way. Officers gave loud verbal commands to Plummer, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, did not respond to initial commands.

Plummer finally opened the driver’s door and had a blank look on her face and acted like she did not know what was going on. Officers could hear her slurring her words and she continued to not comply with officer’s commands.

Plummer was taken into custody and officers could smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from her person. The officers also note that her eyes were bloodshot, glossy, and she was not compliant, kicking the inside of the patrol vehicle she was placed in.

Due to her erratic behavior, officers were unable to conduct a standard field sobriety test but it was determined that she was intoxicated. She was arrested for intoxication assault as a result from the crash where the victim was seriously injured.

Plummer was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility for public intoxication, resisting arrest search or transport, evading arrested detention with a vehicle, intoxication assault with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury, and city warrants. Her bond has been set at $21,564.00.
