Police Investigating Charred Skeletal Remains Found in Family's BBQ Pit

HOUSTON – Houston Police are investigating the charred remains of a skeleton found last week in a family's brick BBQ pit on the southeast side of Texas' most populous city.

According to reports, an unidentified worker called 911 after finding the full skeleton including the skull in a space behind the house.  The remains appear to show that a human body was burned down to the skeleton, Houston PD Sgt. Dunn explained to KHOU, and added that "the barbecue pit doesn’t look too disturbed. So, it looks like it’s been a while."

An autopsy has been ordered to determine how long the remains may have been there and possibly who the person was.

This is an ongoing investigation.
