Police K-9 Killed by Armed Fugitive

 

MOSS POINT, MS – A Jackson County, MS man has been arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm after he shot and killed a K-9 during an altercation with law enforcement.

According to reports, the shooting incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon in Jackson County, Mississippi near Helena. A Pascagoula Police K-9 handler responded to an armed man in a wooded area with his K-9, Officer Exo.

The man, identified as Mitchell Wayne Robinson, allegedly shot at the handler but struck Officer Exo. The handler then fired back and wounded Robinson. Exo was rushed to an emergency vet in Mobile, Alabama but later died from his wound.

Mobile, Alabama is about 37 minutes away from Helena, Mississippi.

Robinson was transported to the hospital and facing an aggravated assault with a firearm charge.
