Metroplex Mayor Arrested for Attempting to Lure Small Children Online

 

PILOT POINT, TX – A mayor out of the Dallas Metroplex area was arrested on Tuesday after police say he attempt to solicit a child younger than 14.

According to the Dallas Police Department, on Jun. 21, 2022, the Dallas Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, Texas Department of Public Safety, Collin County District Attorney’s office, DPD Drone Unit, and North Central CRT, arrested Matthew McIlravy, 42, on the charge of online solicitation of a minor under the age of 14, a 2nd-degree felony.

McIlravy is the current mayor of Pilot Point, Texas.

The arrest is the culmination of a five-month-long investigation by the Dallas Police Department’s ICAC Unit, the lead agency in the North Texas ICAC Task Force.

This ongoing investigation revealed other communications with minors who have not been identified at this time.
