North Texas Man Indicted for Deviant Assault by Grand Jury in Tom Green County

 

SAN ANGELO – A Lewisville teen was indicted by a grand jury in Tom Green County this past month for sexually assaulting a child. 

As previously reported, on Jan. 4, 2021, detectives with the San Angelo Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division received a report from Texas Child Protective Services alleging that a 13-year-old girl in San Angelo had been sexually assaulted by an adult.

In the report it detailed that the assailant, Byron Bowie, 19, of Lewisville, sexually assault the child on Nov. 15, 2020. 

At some point in the investigation the detective met with Bowie and had a voluntary interview. During which Bowie told the detective that on the alleged date he picked up the child and took her to his trailer house in San Angelo.

Bowie admitted to the detective that he had sex with someone whom he believed was to be 13 or 14 years old. 

A warrant for Bowie's arrest was issued on Mar. 3, 2022 and he was arrested on Mar. 7, 2022. He was booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility at 6:40 a.m. and he was released on a $150,000 bond at 9:58 a.m. 

Bowie was indicted for the crime on May 4 and he has a post indictment hearing on Jul. 13 at 8:30 a.m.
