San Angelo Man Indicted for Brutal Attack with a Machete Leaving the Victim Seriously Injured

 

SAN ANGELO- A San Angelo man has been indicted on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by a Tom Green County grand jury for attacking another individual with a machete.

According to court documents, on March 19, 2022, San Angelo police responded to the 800 block of Hughes Street regarding an assault that had taken place. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered that the defendant, identified as John Joshua Padilla, had attacked a victim with a machete.

The victim had been struck in the head and neck area and was seriously injured. He was transported to the Shannon Hospital ICU for his injuries.

A witness said the attack occurred in the living room of the residence.

During a mirandized interview, Padilla waived his rights and admitted to attacking the victim, saying he was trying to kill the victim during the attack.

John Padilla was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility on March 19, 2022 where he is current incarcerated. Padilla is being held on $50,000 bond and cannot have contact with the victim.
