Murder, Death & Mayhem Swept this Panhandle Town over the Weekend

 

AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Police Department had a hectic weekend filled with murder, crashes, and mayhem.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, on May 6, at 11:57 a.m., APD officers were called to a crash at 34th Avenue and Lipscomb Street. Two vehicles were westbound on 34th Avenue and made contact causing both to roll. Two passengers in one vehicle died at the scene. One person from that vehicle was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. There were only minor injuries from the other vehicle.

The victims from the fatal accident have been identified and next of kin notified.  They are identified as Bettye A. Montano, female, age 51 and Allton J. Montano, male, age 21.  This case is still under investigation by the Amarillo Police Traffic Investigation Unit.

A few hours later, on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 1:06 a.m., Amarillo Police officers were sent to Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital at 1600 Wallace on a suspicion of another crash.  When they arrived, they were told a man had driven his car through the glass doors of one of the entrances to the hospital and was being detained by hospital security. This man was identified as William Cash Love, male, age 46, birthday 09/28/75.  He was armed when he entered the hospital.  It was later determined that he had fired a round into the door and the evidence was collected.  He was found to be in possession of a large amount of cash, and when his car was impounded and searched, a large amount of narcotics were seized from it.  

The gun, narcotics and cash were collected as evidence. He was booked into the Randall County
Detention Center on the federal charge of Possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.  This case is being investigated by the Amarillo Police Narcotics unit in cooperation with the DEA.

The following day, on May 8, 2022, at 5:51 pm, Amarillo Police Officers responded to shooting in the 1400 block of N Johnson St. Officers found a shooting victim in a front yard along with several witnesses. 

The victim, identified as Chris Doerue, Male, age 25 was transported to an area hospital where he later died of his injuries. Suspects were detained and interviewed at the Amarillo PD. Leonard Hakizimana,male, age 21 and Jeremiah Ntirampeba, male, age 19, were arrested for murder and booked into the Potter County Jail. The APD Homicide Unit is investigating the case.
