San Angelo Man Sentenced to Prison for Deviant Assault of a Child

SAN ANGELO – A San Angelo man pleaded guilty on Monday to sexually assaulting a child the night after a cook out.

Julio Galindo was sentenced to 7 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as part of a plea deal after he allegedly sexually assaulted a child in the early morning hours after a BBQ with family and friends.

According to court documents, on August 4, 2021, an investigator spoke with a witness identified only as  M.V., and learned that M.V. had received a Facebook message from the victim stating that Galindo had violated the child’s “area.”

In the message, the victim claimed Galindo had assaulted her twice, once at 2:00 a.m. and at 6:00 a.m. M.V. then drove from Ozona to San Angelo to take custody of the child and called law enforcement.

On the same day, the investigator observed a forensic interview performed with the child victim, who advised she had gone to Galindo’s residence on Monday, August 2, while her mother moved into a new residence.

On August 3, 2021, the victim claimed Galindo had a barbeque with family and friends and that he had been drinking alcohol. In the early morning hours of August 4, at 2:00 a.m., Galindo came into a bedroom where the victim was sleeping. He then touched the victim’s leg, buttock, and stomach. The victim moved around in the bed, as if she were waking up, and this seemed to scare Galindo away.

At 6:00 a.m., Galindo entered the room again and used his fingers to penetrate the child victim’s sexual organ. This caused the victim pain and the victim moved around again. This caused Galindo to stop and leave the room.

Investigators spoke with another witness, I.G., who confirmed the child victim had been staying at Galindo’s residence. I.G. also confirmed there had been a barbeque the night before and that Galindo had been drinking. The witness was also suspicious of Galindo using cocaine.

I.G. stated that she left for work just before 6:00 a.m. and did not see Galindo. I.G. learned from M.V. that the victim made an outcry that Galindo has sexually assaulted her. She confronted Galindo and he responded he could not remember if he had gone into the bedroom the victim was in or if he sexually assaulted the victim.

Investigators spoke with patrol officers who stated that Galindo said something to the effect of him never drinking again. Galindo then stated that his entire life was going to be defined by one sole action that he did not know what came over him. Galindo said he was drunk, “f****d up”, and that this was going to ruin his life.

Galindo was arrested and booked on August 4, 2021.

On Monday, May 9, 2022, Galindo entered a guilty plea to sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child and has been sentenced to seven years in prison.

Galindo will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life after serving his sentence.
