Cartel Drug Runner Dumps Truck Full of Weed & Swims Back to Mexico

BROWNSVILLE – Fort Brown Border Patrol Station Border Patrol agents interdicted a narcotics smuggling attempt resulting in the seizure of more than 480 pounds of marijuana Tuesday when a suspect vehicle crashed into the Rio Grande.

On May 3,  agents attempted to initiate an immigration inspection on the occupants of a Chevrolet Silverado believed to have loaded illegal aliens or narcotics near the Rio Grande in Brownsville.

The driver failed to yield and led agents and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers on a vehicle pursuit. The vehicle drove through a fence and struck a Border Patrol vehicle before driving into the Rio Grande.

The driver was observed going back into Mexico, leaving behind the Silverado with 22 bundles of marijuana valued at almost $400,000.  Agents believe the vehicle was ferried across the Rio Grande river.

Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector agents have seized more than 21,000 pounds of narcotics between October 1, 2021, and March 31, 2022.
